This Saturday, August 1st, Martinez celebrates the return of beavers to the Beaver Park at the corner of Marina Vista and Alhambra Avenue in downtown Martinez. A full schedule of events and musical presentations is listed on the website: www.Martinezbeavers.org. New this year for kids is a Keystone Project where they can earn 19 wildlife pins designed by Oakland artist, Mark Poulin. There are lots of activities and the Walnut Creek wild bird rescue folks have a few owls, hawks, etc. that can’t be released. There are hourly beaver talks & walks in case the beavers show themselves. The beaver family are most active early and around dusk. We attended the festival, then we perused the monthly antique market a block away. We came back as it was getting toward 4pm and spent an hour watching the beavers with our binoculars. Lots of shore birds and song birds stopping by,too.
