Cal Revels is inviting everyone to join them in the Joaquin Miller Park meadow in Oakland on Labor Day, September 3rd, 2012. Come at 11am: picnic, make music, enjoy the music others make and at 1pm they hope to form the longest serpentine line ever and dance the Abbots Bromliad with antlers all around the meadow. This year there are also Revels groups in Portland and Puget Sound doing this, too. Perhaps one day we will have a line all around the U.S.
This is a traditional dance done yearly in England and also Northern Europe, 16 kilometers through the countryside and pub lots on Wake Monday. It is done every year in the Christmas Revels in Oakland and other venues where Revels presents a Christmas show. Bring your antlers if you have them.
Revels asks that you register for an evite although this is a free event. You can do that at their website,
Calrevels.org.
