The 25th annual California Revels will be held in the Scottish Rite Auditorium across from Lake Merritt in Oakland. It is a marvelous tradition, which includes some of our Bay Area’s best musicians, singers and dancers as well as local children and adults who make up the wider company. They rehearse for several months to put this pageant together and when you go you will be transported to other places and times gone by. The costuming, sets and lighting combine to complete the illusion that you are somewhere else at times long past. This is a great way to introduce children to live theatre and a great addition to traditional holiday events.
The dates this year are Dec. 10,11,12 and 17,18,19. The featured artists are Shay Black, Kevin Karr, Shira Kammen and Diana Rowan. Set in 1906 Ireland, they are showcasing the Solstice customs of those people who were in process of emigrating to America, bringing their traditions with them.
