If you want to learn who this “man for all seasons” was, the opportunity to see Tayo Aluko’s one man play, which is currently touring the U.S. and Canada, is Sunday, February 24, 2011 at the East Bay Center for Performing Arts, 339 11th St. at Harbor Way in Richmond.  Tickets range from $10 to $20 and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets (www.brownpapertickets.com/event/305971.  There will be 2 shows: 3pm and 7pm.

Unfortunately, this play is limited to adults and students over 12 years old.  (I am not happy about this as I was 6,8,10 when I was lucky enough that my parents couldn’t afford baby sitters and took me with them to the Union Halls where he performed.  Before I fell asleep with other kids on the wooden folding chairs, I loved hearing him sing & I have been profoundly influenced by those experiences in my own musical career choices.)

You can take a look at the play on YouTube by google searching call mr. robeson.  You can also see Mr. Robeson on YouTube.
